Call for experts – Social Protection in sub-Saharan Africa

Objectives of the role:
DAI is looking for experts in social protection to work with us on our on-going donor funded programmes in sub-Saharan Africa. The experts will work with the project teams to ensure social protection programmes/components are fulfilled and successful. The nature of inputs can vary, so experts interested in short-term inputs as well as long-term positions on projects funded by the EC, DFID and DFAT are welcomed to apply.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Advanced degree in Social Sciences, Law, Economics, Business Administration, Public Administration, Health, Land Planning or related field is required.
- Experts should be fluent in English, knowledge of languages local to the sub-Saharan region are an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills.
Professional Experience:
- Senior experts should have at least 10 years’ experience working within the social protection sector in sub-Saharan Africa. Junior experts should have at least 3 years’ experience.
- Experience of working with populations that are marginalised, living in poverty and/or vulnerable is essential.
- Experts must have experience in the design, implementation and monitoring of social assistance programmes or social security.
- Experts should have in-depth knowledge of organisational change in the context of social protection services reform at national and local levels.
- Relevant experience related to institutional issues (structures, functional review, institutional reform, inter-agency coordination) in the sector(s) of social protection and/or social assistance and/or social welfare development is essential.
