Viet Nam: Chief of Party, Combating Wildlife Trafficking Project

USAID’s strategy in Vietnam seeks to reduce the pressure of wildlife crime on endangered and threatened species. The five-year Activity led by USAID/Vietnam will accomplish this by reducing consumer demand for and consumption of illegal wildlife and wildlife products, strengthening wildlife law enforcement and prosecution, and improving and harmonizing the legal framework for wildlife crime.

DAI is seeking a Chief of Party to be responsible for overall administration and management of the Activity including ensuring strong integration across the three Tasks and the CWT Activity Fund. The COP must serve as the institutional liaison and must be responsible for chief administrative oversight for the Activity.

Role and Responsibilities

(1) Primary project point of contact for GVN, donors, USG, private sector entities, and other key stakeholders;

(2) Technical leadership and supervision of staff and consultants;

(3) Quality control and timely delivery of outputs;

(4) Supervision of the preparation of work plans, progress reports, financial reports, logistics, and other documents;

(5) Primary liaison with USAID through USAID’s CO and COR. The COP leads overall implementation of the Activity and must be based in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least ten (10) years of experience in the implementation of large and complex projects relating to natural resources management and/or biodiversity conservation, preferably with some focus on CWT.
  • At least three (3) years proven leadership in the management of similar sized international donor support programs with strong, demonstrated skills in strategic planning, management, supervision, and budgeting.
  • At least three (3) years of experience working with senior government officials, private sector leaders, and other stakeholders in natural resources management and/or biodiversity conservation sectors.
  • A master’s degree in natural resources management/conservation or related field or, in lieu thereof, five additional years of experience in a related technical area.
  • Demonstrated skills in building, mobilizing, and leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in English is required.
