We are recruiting for a senior level professional to lead Supply Chain programs, new business, and technical strategy, ideally drawing on diverse health sector experience. Position can be based in DAI’s Europe (London or Apsley) or USA (Bethesda) offices, with some additional flexibility for candidates with directly relevant knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Overview of the Position:
The Senior/Principal Global Health Practice Specialist provides technical leadership to DAI Global Heath’s business development and project management/delivery efforts. They contribute to thought leadership and knowledge management in assigned area; and cultivate a network of clients, experts, partners relevant to supply chain and other health focus areas on behalf of DAI. They coordinate within Global Health and make technical contributions to relevant cross-sectoral efforts across DAI.
Beyond the supply chain sector, the Senior/Principal Global Health Practice Specialist also serves as a resource and technical leader within Global Heath Technical Team, collaborating with health specialists across the organization to contribute to successful implementation of Global Health projects and bids, contribute to strategy development and execution across health technical areas for the overall success of the organization and coordinate closely with functional teams providing bid and proposal and project management support. The Specialist may serve as Technical Advisor or Project Director on projects (within assigned practice area or otherwise, based on organizational needs) contributing to or having responsibility for quality programming and achievement of development outcomes and client satisfaction.
Key Tasks:
- Leads or significantly contributes to efforts to win new projects/work.
- Contributes to the development and implementation of DAI Global Health’s new business pipeline.
Participates in new business pre-positioning; including reconnaissance trips, research, and trend analysis. Identifies/recruits experts and partners for bids and projects.
Stays abreast with client and international development trends in assigned area. On behalf of DAI, develops and maintains close relationships with potential partners and recruits.
Contributes to development of a thought leadership agenda for assigned area that aligns to GH’s business development priorities, capture strategies for upcoming bids, and longer-term market positioning. Outreach may include publications, presentations, event participation, etc. to enhance DAI GH’s reputation and brand with our key clients.
Undertakes specific technical role assigned on project(s), including Project Champion/Director. In doing so, ensures that assigned projects deliver quality results, and that activities are designed and funds are expended to meet overall project objectives, contract deliverables, and indicator targets. Develops a good working relationship and checks-in regularly with the client to get performance feedback.
Ensures that DAI captures technical achievements and lessons learned related to assigned area; encourages cross-project learning.
Supports technical excellence on project through short-term technical assignments in assigned area and otherwise as needed.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as business needs evolve.
Minimum Qualifications
- Grade 11: 11 years of professional development experience and a bachelor’s degree; or 9 years of professional development of experience and a master’s degree
- Grade 12: 13 years of professional development experience and a bachelor’s degree, or 11 years of professional development experience and a master’s degree
- Experience strengthening global health supply chains through donor projects or private sector contexts, including system assessments, private sector engagement, policy and regulatory reform, development and scaling of innovations, in-country logistics and other relevant areas.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively across technical areas, to develop technical approaches that integrate or leverage resources in different parts of the company.
- Possesses technical knowledge of current health supply chain challenges and strategies as evidenced by new business development, and project-level experience and success, publications, reports, and/or public presentations
- Excellent writing skills and demonstrated experience writing strong technical proposals for USAID, FCDO or other international donor clients.
- Experienced in and comfortable with performing all proposal leadership roles including writer, champion, and manager, partnership/consortium development, and recruiting
- Ability to travel to any country in which DAI has projects or requires proposal reconnaissance and the provision of technical support to projects, aligned with DAI travel and security policies and guidance. Travel requirement can be up to 10-20% of the time.
Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Strongly Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to work with and lead teams for winning new business and delivering excellent results to clients.
- Demonstrated new business success with USAID
- Fluency in an additional language besides English, with Spanish, French or Arabic preferred.
Supervisory Requirements: May supervise junior or mid-level technical staff
