DAI Europe Placement Programme 2018-19

Responding to the needs of our growing business, alongside our desire to develop future talent, DAI is offering a 12-month placement role as part of our 2018/19 programme. The 12-month placement will be spent in the Finance department and, if successful, there may be the opportunity for employment in a permanent role at the conclusion of your degree.

This internship will start in September 2018, for a duration of 12 months.

DAI offers a salary, commensurate with an internship role, of £14,600 pa. The position will be based in DAI’s spacious, custom-designed offices in Apsley, 30 minutes out of London Euston – with excellent rail and motorway links to London and the region.

Main purpose of role: To work across the DAI finance department as a whole, supporting management and project accounting groups, ensuring a wide range of exposure to financial processes, procedures and analysis.

Key tasks, duties and responsibilities:

Work with the Management accounting group in support of monthly reporting process. Activities to include:

  • Work with general ledger accounts in creating annual/monthly/quarterly reconciliations and schedules
  • Assist with month-end close process and journal entries
  • Perform Accounts Payable processes
  • Support budget development and analyse budget/trend performance for operation
  • Financial statement analysis
  • Assist with compliance requirements

Support the Project accounting group. Activities to include:

  • Shadow/support project accountant on one (or more) established projects
  • Maintain budgets, forecasts for projects
  • Variance analysis and commentary for projects
  • High Levels of Data Analysis & Manipulation
  • Liaising with Project Managers

You will work to structured goals and will, with your line manager, review the success of your contribution to determine whether there is a mutual fit for a permanent role at the end of your placement.

About you

  • Seeking a year’s placement part-way through a 3-4 year first degree in relevant discipline e.g. economics; finance; business; management or similar discipline
  • Advanced spreadsheet skills
  • Understanding of and interest in international development and working in an international/multi-cultural environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Pro-active, assertive and action-oriented with strong intellectual ability and agility
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to tight deadlines
