Project Background:

The USAID Iraq Governance Performance and Accountability (IGPA) program seeks to increase employment through demand-driven private sector-led economic growth in Iraq, with a major focus on Ninewa Province. IGPA aims to work with private sector firms, with a focus on Ninewa Province, by providing targeted technical assistance to identify and overcome specific business access to finance constraints to make these firms investment-ready. The objective of this task order is to increase employment and economic opportunities by helping the private sector, including small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and, as appropriate, larger, developed businesses located in and near Ninewa province, attract investment. This activity will work with existing USAID funded programs, government institutions, and the private sector to promote increased competitiveness and investment opportunities for Iraqi businesses.

Role’s Purpose:

The IT Assistant will support all IT needs for Ninewa Investment Facilitation and Business Development staff, including overall network administration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT and communication equipment.

Responsibilities and Key Tasks:

· Server and server application maintenance (Hardware integration, Windows server maintenance, LAN and WAN connectivity, anti-virus installation and maintenance).

· Client computer hardware and application installation and configuration and maintenance of Laptops, Desktops, MS Windows, MS Office, Lotus Notes and other mail clients, anti-virus and other project software;

· Performs network administration activities to include: performing back-ups, restoring files, adding or deleting users; checking space requirements; applying and monitoring security patches for all operating systems and server applications; installing and configuring network systems and workstation systems; and configuring router and firewall firmware and software.

· Troubleshoots employee computer and application problems; performs repairs as needed, provides feedback and recommends and implements solutions, upgrades and training.

· Checks systems in order to optimize performance and to initiate recovery action after system failures;

· Manages, controls, and secures all software

· Backup the servers on daily, weekly and monthly basis

· Makes suggestions for network hardware and software system improvements

· Creates and maintains effective inventory of IT and communication equipment

· Assists in procurement and evaluation of all IT technical equipment;

Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.

· At least 5 years of experience with IT support. Experience working with USAID or donor-funded projects preferred.

· Strong technical analytical and critical thinking skills and ability to work successfully in team environment.

· Willingness to travel to Ninewa Province and elsewhere in northern Iraq required.

· Strong written and spoken English and Arabic required.

· Must have legal right to work in Iraq.

Location and Reporting:

The IT Assistant will be based in Erbil, Iraq and will report to the Task Order Team Lead.
