Viet Nam: Environmental Policy Reform/Legislative Specialist

DAI, an international consulting firm based in the United States, is currently accepting applications for an Environmental Policy Reform/Legislative Specialist position to support an anticipated U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) five-year, combating wildlife trafficking project in Vietnam.

The objectives of the program will be to reduce consumer demand for and consumption of illegal wildlife and wildlife products, strengthen wildlife law enforcement and prosecution, and improve and harmonize the legal framework for wildlife crime.

Requirements:

  • Advanced Degree in related field (JD, MPA, or equivalent)

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in policy and legislative reform; experience with USAID or other international donors highly preferred

  • 7+ years of experience supporting rule of law or justice reform programs

  • Experience working with national and/or local organizations on issues around wildlife conservation

  • Experience in enforcement programs working to deter, apprehend, and prosecute poachers and wildlife traffickers

  • Solid communication skills - both written and oral

  • Fluency in Vietnamese and proficiency in English preferred.
